Returning to the Present
There is something so cozy about the fall. I find myself wanting to return to my nest more and more often, the incessant desire to go play outside dropping away like the drifting leaves.
I am called back to my home studio to begin this internal, wintry process of gestation. New creations are afoot as I dive into the dance between meditation and creation.
Just like when I am on my yoga mat or meditation cushion, the gold of the creative process seems to lie in the transitions. Whenever my mind wanders away from the present, I have an opportunity to bring myself back with grace, love, and compassion.
Caring for, nurturing, and loving my creative self is what is allowing her to come forth and produce new work uninhibited. That feels like the heart of the work more than anything else, and that is what I love to share with my clients and students as they embark on their own creative journeys.
When you find yourself drifting away from the present moment, what do you do to bring yourself back? I'd love to know! Please share with us by posting a comment!
